SOCCER

Goals and Objectives
The Manitoba Games fits in with Soccer's learning to train stage of LTPD and provides the introduction to a train to train stage where players start to develop their game by training and competing against players of a higher level selected across Manitoba. It is our hope through MB Games we address both of these stages and it also will play an integral role in coach development and leave a lasting and sustainable level of more professional training so that we can increase our provincial teams player and coach pool.

Regional Team Identification
Soccer will identify athletes to try out for regional teams through:
MSA Website
MSA Facebook Page
Emails to the Regions, WYSA
Communications with Clubs/Schools/Sports Programs

Regional Team Development
In each Region, we will host initial player development camps and tryouts as well as coach development camps and certification. After initial tryouts, players will be invited in to regular regional camps throughout the summer of 2011 and throughout the winter of 2011. The process will be finalized with final selections in late spring or early summer of 2012 in time for representing the Region in the games itself.

Regional Team Selection Process
There will be tryouts in each Region and players will be selected from this process.

Regional Team Training
As discussed in the camp opportunities, it is our aim to provide at least bi-weekly training in each region for players who will then be training together on a regular basis and competing for final selection to the games. This training will run October 2011 – April 2012

Coach Requirements
Each coach must have their youth community coach certification and have taken Respect in Sport.

Coach Selection Process
We will be hosting coaching clinics and certification courses in each region and will be using these coaches plus other volunteers to help run initial player development camps and the tryouts for players. Through each of these events, we will be soliciting applications for the positions and will make selections based on performance and desire to buy into the games and LTPD philosophies.
