SAILING

Purpose and Fit
Clear goal for Sail Manitoba is to develop the sport of sailing
in our province, especially in the remote areas. The key objective is to introduce racing in a fun way and improve racing skills. The acquired skills will be the cornerstone in their sailing development.

The selected age groups at the Games are a perfect fit with the Learn to Sail Fast, Learn to Train and Learn to Compete stages of the Long Term Sailor Development Model.

Support for the Games is delivered by clubs which offer learn to race programs and by the mobile sailing school, which travels the whole summer to small clubs and community centers. The Games are a high priority event for our youth development program and an event each sailor will strive for.

It is –like no other event- invaluable to develop coaches and officials, especially in remote areas
